Junus Khan is the Founder and President of Carbitex, a materials technology company developing advanced flexible carbon fiber composites for footwear, performance products, and other high-demand applications.

He founded Carbitex in 2010 after seeing an opportunity to make carbon fiber more useful beyond rigid structural applications. Rather than treating carbon fiber only as a lightweight stiffening material, Carbitex focuses on engineering how materials flex, resist, and respond under load. The company’s patented technologies, including OmniFlex, MonoFlex, and GearFlex, are designed to bring controlled flexibility, directional stiffness, and progressive resistance to products that interact with human movement.

Carbitex operates as a branded ingredient technology company, working with global footwear brands, performance product companies, and professional sports organizations to improve the relationship between material behavior and real-world use. Its materials have been used in more than a million pairs of footwear and continue to support new applications across running, trail, court, golf, insoles, and elite athlete programs.

Junus’s work sits at the intersection of materials science, product strategy, biomechanics, and commercialization. He is particularly focused on helping the footwear industry move beyond passive construction and toward more intentional engineering of flex as a core performance property alongside cushioning, traction, and stability.

Before founding Carbitex, Junus worked in the automotive industry, including experience with high-performance and advanced materials applications. He studied at Rutgers University and has spent his career building from first principles, translating technical insight into practical products, and working to make advanced materials more accessible, useful, and commercially meaningful.
